What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professor of Clinical Anatomy position at SHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine?
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
The Department of Clinical Anatomy at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Sam Houston State University is seeking a full-time faculty member experienced in teaching clinical anatomy to medical students or comparable level healthcare professional trainees (e.g. doctorate level physical therapy). Duties of the position will include but are not limited to didactic and lab-based teaching of gross anatomy through full-body cadaver dissection with a particular focus on clinical correlations. The position also involves teaching diagnostic medical imaging, histology, and embryology, with teaching
being required in multiple courses. Research activity, service to the college, and student advising and mentoring are also required.
Educational Requirements for the Position
PhD, MD, DO or equivalent degree in medicine, anatomy, or related field from an accredited university with postdoctoral experience.
Experience Required for the Position
Candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in an academic institution teaching anatomy to medical students or comparable level healthcare professional trainees. Proficiency at writing board-style (particularly NBOME/NBME) exam questions will be expected.
Other Requirements for the Position
The candidate will be required to use curriculum delivery systems such as Blackboard and exam writing software such as Examsoft. Experience using different teaching methods such as case-based learning, ‘flipped classroom’, team-based learning, interactive large group presentation, and audience response systems is preferable.
