Headquartered in the center of the Vidalia growing region in Southeast Georgia, family-owned Shuman Farms has been in the sweet onion industry for more than three generations. Our legacy began in the mid-1980s with a small family farm in Reidsville, GA. Today, we are an industry-leading, year-round grower and shipper of premium sweet onions.
As the logistics coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing activities like transportation coordination, order fulfillment, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries while optimizing costs and efficiency across the logistics process; key duties include tracking shipments, managing relationships with carriers, resolving shipping issues, and maintaining accurate records to guarantee smooth operations.
Key responsibilities of a logistics coordinator:
- Shipment coordination: Arranging transportation for goods, including selecting carriers, negotiating rates, and scheduling pick-ups and deliveries.
- Tracking shipments: Coordinating with Carriers and utilizing tracking systems to monitor shipment progress and identify potential delays.
- Issue resolution: Identifying and resolving shipping errors, addressing customer inquiries related to deliveries.
- Cost analysis: Analyzing transportation costs, identifying opportunities for cost optimization, and managing logistics budgets.
- Compliance management: Ensuring adherence to all relevant shipping regulations and compliance standards.
- Communication management: Maintaining effective communication with internal teams (sales, production), external partners (carriers, suppliers), and customers.
- Participate in a bi-monthly after hours rotation to provide phone coverage, ensuring calls are answered promptly and professionally
