Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Lead (2nd shift) to oversee and coordinate the daily activities of machine operators and packaging line staff. The Production Lead will ensure that production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed. This individual will provide leadership, training, and support to ensure maximum efficiency and team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Coordination
- Oversee machine operators and production line staff to ensure smooth operations and adherence to company standards.
- Monitor daily production activities, addressing issues and reallocating resources as needed to meet production goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for team members during production shifts. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications by reviewing Compact’s Finished Product Specifications and conducting spot checks.
- Enforce adherence to HACCP, GMP, and allergen control programs, especially during product changeovers.
- Notify the Quality Control department of any deviations and assist in resolving issues promptly.
- Equipment Management
- Oversee the operation of up to two machines, ensuring they are set up and functioning properly.
- Supervise changeovers, tooling installations, and minor machine adjustments.
- Work closely with machine operators to troubleshoot and minimize equipment downtime.
- Monitor and ensure proper functioning of metal detectors and check-weighers.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Review and ensure accurate completion of production forms and logs by team members.
- Communicate raw material shortages or order concerns to the Supervisor.
- Training & Development
- Train and mentor machine operators to improve skills and maintain production standards.
- Actively participate in and promote ongoing training programs for staff. Safety & Workplace Organization
- Enforce compliance with all safety regulations and GMP procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, promoting workplace safety and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 2 year in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and minor equipment repairs.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to provide clear instructions.
- Solid understanding of HACCP, GMP, and quality control standards.
- Basic math and problem-solving skills.
