What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Controls Co-Op position at SI Group?
The Automation Controls Co Op position for student in the chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering or computer science fields at the SI Group. The position will provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience at a chemical production facility in a part-time capacity while finishing their education. The successful applicants will be mentored by experienced engineers in their field on assignments that range from small capital projects to supporting day to day activities. In addition to the specific assigned projects / tasks, the student will have the opportunity to spend time interacting with and or shadowing various functions on site (production, logistics, lab, maintenance).
Projects
1. Update AspenOne Process Explorer Graphics and Documentation
a) Convert existing and develop new process graphics using Aspen One Process Explorer.
b) Convert existing OSI Pi calculation and reports using AspenCalc, SQL and Reporting tools
Opportunity to learn about Chemical processes, MS Office document skills, Aspen Historian Software, SQL Programming and about control systems graphics
2. Process and Control System Simulation Setup/Test
Co-Op will learn and gain experience in how to setup/test controls simulation systems, server virtualization and learn about control systems programming (Structured text, Function Blocks, Sequential Chart, Ladder Logic)
3. Update Control Systems Diagram and documents
You will learn AutoCAD and\or Visio software.
The pay range for this position is $22-25/hour. The specific rate offered will be determined by a variety of factors including location, experience, and education.
