The Role: As the Director - Master Data Management, reporting to the CIO, you will be responsible for overseeing the management and governance of master data across the organization. This role ensures the integrity, quality, and availability of master data across the organization, driving consistency and compliance with global standards. You will lead a team of master data professionals, collaborate with key stakeholders (BPE & BPO), and implement strategies to optimize master data processes, enabling efficient and effective business operations.

How You Will Make an Impact:

MDM Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive master data management strategy, including roadmap, processes, and tools.
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and quality control of master data within SAP systems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC).
  • Collaborate with business leaders, IT, finance, supply chain, and key stakeholders to align master data initiatives with business needs.
  • Implement best practices for data migration, cleansing, and validation while monitoring data quality metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, reduce duplication, and optimize data processes.
  • Manage MDM resourcing, issue escalation, risk management, and service delivery.
  • Support M&A initiatives by driving MDM integration and system/data consolidation efforts.

MDM Governance:

  • Establish definitions, rules, and standards for all master data domains and elements.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls related to master data.
  • Maintain change control and access control for data standards.
  • Engage with project teams to align project requirements with data standards and update them as needed.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place for master data management.

AI Leadership:

  • Define the AI vision, goals, and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee data architecture to ensure seamless data flow across applications and AI models.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to build AI-powered applications.
  • Bridge the gap between IT, data teams, and business users to maximize AI adoption.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness before analysis, implementing ETL processes to streamline data flow.
  • Foster a culture of innovation where AI is leveraged to solve business challenges.

People Leadership:

  • Drive the vision, daily operations, and support of the Master Data Management team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of MDM specialists and analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Guide and manage the team to ensure business requirements are met through technical oversight.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize the MDM team structure to improve productivity and effectiveness.
  • Maintain a stimulating and motivating environment that encourages professional growth and excellence.
  • Ensure team members receive appropriate training, motivation, and utilization to maximize their impact.

Creating Extraordinary Starts With:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 15 years of work experience in SAP, MDM tools and master data management, out of which 5 years are global leadership experience
  • Experience leading MDM in a multibillion-dollar company
  • Chemical industry experience preferred
  • Experience in implementing MDM tools preferred
