General Description : The Distribution & Logistics Manager leads the D&L department from a ZERO EHS impact philosophy. Responsible for the direction and coordination of a site’s logistics value chain from the receipt of raw materials to the shipping of finished products. Responsible for the efficient transportation and storage of goods and is effective at reducing costs while delivering superior value to meet and/or exceed SIG customer expectations. Responsible for creating, cultivating, and embedding a culture of Continuous Improvement to further the SI Group Brand promise and SI Operational Excellence. Responsible for identifying and engaging team members in developmental activities designed to stimulate long-term individual and organizational growth.

Site Management
- Serves as member of Site Leadership Team
- Collaborates with other functional leaders to identify, prioritize, and solve problems to support achievement of site goals and objectives
- Anticipates future requirements for site and develops and implements strategic plans to meet those requirements
- Ensures EHS compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance
- Ensures department goals are aligned with site business imperatives
- Develops budget plans following a zero-based approach and manages D&L costs
- Ensures volume targets and quality standards are achieved
- Accountable for execution of raw material receiving and finished goods shipment work processes
- Ensures execution of warehouse and inventory management work processes
- Provides oversight of the execution of packaging work processes where aligned with Distribution and Logistics
- Responsible for execution of the Order Fulfillment work process within the ERP/SAP system
- Serves as equipment owner of site raw material and finished goods equipment and warehouses
- Ensures that all customer shipments, packaging and raw material deliveries represent SI’s brand promise and achieves full customer satisfaction
- Ensures storage of both raw materials and finished goods to support the production of superior products in compliance to regulatory standards
- Ensures packaging and transportation of finished goods are complaint with requirements of regulating agencies DOT/IATA/IMO/FRA
- Manages the proper and safe transportation of waste materials in compliance with disposal requirements and DOT/EPA regulations
- Oversees the verification of logistics and transportation records such as bills of lading, certificates of analysis, and other administrative paperwork
- Partners with production to align plans and schedules to manage material movement to support the site’s production processes
- Operates as a liaison for Regional Sales and Supply Chain to support customer product demands and achievement of sales goals
- Owns the relationship with regulatory agencies, responsible for maintaining current policies and procedures regarding D&L inspections and compliance
- Accountable for ensuring appropriate crewing schedules and manpower levels to support the production processes and delivery of goods
- Ownership of processes for handling finished goods, from inventory control in warehouses/distribution centers through the transportation of sold goods
- Maintains a current and up to date knowledge management inventory system to understand market dynamics to include lead-times, cost and delivery expectations, past and future promotional events, and new product introductions to aid in superior customer service and D&L performance
- Establishes operational discipline by following D&L Manager daily standard work processes, monitors, measures, and audits department leaders to ensure accountability for adherence to daily standard work processes
- Consistently assesses and evaluates adherence to standard work models
- Develops budget plans following a zero-based approach and manages D&L costs
- Drives KPI progress towards goals and takes appropriate action to ensure accomplishment of goals performance and improvement through effective use of planning and performance management cycle (PPMC). Sets clear goals, rigorously monitors
- Drives LEAN/Six Sigma, continuous improvement of processes and operations for increased productivity and efficiency (Operational Excellence)
- Grows a culture of continuous improvement (CI) by consistently embedding CI into meetings, trainings, processes, and systems
- Ensures D&L work is accomplished through defined, measured, and continuously improved work processes; proactively identifies and leverages D&L best practices
- Clarifies and constantly reinforces SI’s vision, mission, and values
- Effectively models leadership through personal exhibition of SI’s Value-Based Behavioral Competencies
- Accountable for recruiting, retaining, and developing high quality talent within department
- Demonstrates strong personal awareness along with ability to influence and lead multiculturally
- Engages all employees in SI Group’s CI culture
- Management of union-related activities where applicable
