The Role: As the Lead Process Safety Engineer, reporting to the Director - Global Process Safety, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of corporate Process Safety Management (PSM) strategies and programs to meet our global risk management goals. As a member of the local site leadership team, you’ll collaborate across Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) teams, both locally and globally. Your expertise in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) facilitation will be central to this role. This position can be based out of our Freeport, TX; Baytown, TX; Morgantown, WV or Rotterdam Junction, NY sites.

How You Will Make an Impact:
Facilitate PHAs/LOPAs
- Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of PHAs and LOPAs to ensure compliance with corporate risk criteria.
- Use Sphera’s Advanced Risk Assessment (ARA) program to document and manage assessments.
- Ensure thorough identification of scenarios, safeguards, and recommendations in PHA/LOPA reports.
- Facilitate meetings effectively, balancing time management and clear communication.
- Deliver final reports aligned with local Plant Managers and translate them into English as needed.
- Identify and address gaps in process safety information.
- Assist sites in gathering and updating critical safety data.
- Develop action plans to close information gaps and track progress.
- Support site teams in implementing practical solutions to address PHA/LOPA recommendations.
- Collaborate with site leadership to prioritize and execute cost-effective safety actions.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date safeguard inventory.
- Provide training on Process Safety Management principles.
- Consult with SI Group facilities and tolling manufacturers
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, Chemical Engineering preferred
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or similar industries
- One or more years facilitating PHAs and LOPAs

- The salary range for this position is $85,000-$140,000 annually. The specific salary offered will be determined by a variety of factors including location, experience, and education.
