We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Utilities Managing Director (MD) to provide specialized expertise in the utilities sector, focusing on electricity/gas/water or infrastructure, as applicable. The MD will play a critical role in driving the success of projects by offering in-depth industry knowledge, advising on best practices, and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary resource for expertise in utility operations, regulations, and industry trends.
• Analyze business needs and challenges, providing insights to support strategic decision-making and project execution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions for utility clients.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards, identifying and mitigating risks associated with utility projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project teams, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development.
• Lead or contribute to the development of proposals, white papers, and presentations for stakeholders and clients.
• Evaluate current processes, systems, and technologies, recommending enhancements to improve efficiency and performance.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends in the utilities sector, including renewable energy integration, smart grid technology, and sustainability practices.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners, and regulatory bodies.
• Proactively support business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new opportunities and leveraging expertise and your network to expand client relationships and sales in North America.
• Utilize industry connections to foster partnerships, enhance project delivery, and build the organization’s presence in the utilities sector
• Drive Business Development and hit BD targets:
  • $1.5 million originated revenue
  • $1 million managed revenue
    
    

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10 years of experience in the utilities sector, with a focus on specific areas such as energy, gas, water, or renewables.
• Proven track record of delivering results in utility-related projects, including operational improvements, regulatory compliance, and technology integration.
• Deep understanding of utility systems, processes, and technologies, including smart grids, SCADA, AMI, or other relevant systems.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and compliance requirements in the utilities sector.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge and experience in IT, AI, and data centers are considered an asset.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in project management tools, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, or industry-specific credentials are a plus

Hybrid Workplace Guidelines

Sia is committed to providing a flexible workplace environment that supports client, business, and market needs. Consultants located in our primary market office locations—New York City, Charlotte, Seattle, and San Francisco are expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance and attend the office at least three days per week. For applicants in other markets, including those without a local office, we offer more flexible in-person requirements to accommodate your location.
