Engineer - Supervisor
Location:
East Boulder Mine - McLeod, MT
Schedule:
5x2, 4x3 - 9-hour days
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide leadership and oversight of the planning and survey team at the East Boulder Mine. The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for:
- Fostering an inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and innovation, and actively seek feedback from the workforce for continuous improvements.
- Fostering positive, cooperative relationships with other groups in the Company.
- Coordinates resources and efforts to compliment all areas in realizing overall mine goals.
- Foster cooperation, collaboration, and innovation to ensure that realistic production and development goals are being set and met. Ensure that resource value is being maximized.
- Lead team to maximum mine operations through safely optimizing mine systems, planning, and procedures.
- Oversees multiple working groups and takes appropriate action in supporting a positive and inclusive work environment as well as professionally addressing behaviors that don't align with Sibanye-Stillwater's core values.
- Demonstrate positive two-way verbal and written communication.
- Demonstrate fair and consistent administration of Sibanye-Stillwater policies and procedures and support the Technical Service Department in dealing with employee concerns.
- Developing and managing balanced work groups; Allocating and sharing resources.
- Supervising planning engineers and activities.
- Train and evaluate direct reports.
- Work effectively with other technical services and operations personnel.
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure effective communications within department.
- Must be willing to fill in for the Chief Engineer as needed.
- Responsible for producing an accurate and achievable forecast that meets budgeted targets.
- Oversees the development of the 0-2 year budget physicals.
- Assist with preparation of monthly and yearly operating budgets with emphasis on capital expenditures, the justification of such and procurement of services required.
- Work with operations to overcome any forecasted bottlenecks.
- Assist with projects ranging from simple to complex and encompassing all facets of the operation.
- Understand and budget for future production goals factoring in all infrastructure associated with achieving set goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Collecting and communicating accurate information in a timely manner.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment, safe work practices, and a strong safety culture.
- Ensure that Environmental Excellence is practiced with in area of responsibility
Qualifications and Skills:
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, as well as, within a team-based environment.
- Intermediate to advance understanding of MSHA regulations.
- Familiarity with cost reporting and cost tracking analysis.
- Familiarity with rock mechanics and mine ventilation principles.
- Strong computer skills in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
- Proven mine planning and scheduling experience.
- Proficient use of the Vulcan / Deswik or other 3D mine design planning software packages.
Education and Experience:
- BS in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of mine engineering experience.
