Together, we can shape the future.POSITION SUMMARY : A Quality Testing Technician is an individual responsible for testing the quality of inbound and outbound materials and communicate findings relative to material specifications.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Not applicableDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, to the extent that such an accommodation does not pose an undue hardship on the Company.Assist in utilizing the SMI Quality system at SMI facility.Lead in ensuring that products and services meet or exceed customer specifications.Perform plant quality checks per SMI's Quality Procedures.Track quality performance, identify problem areas, takes action to contain any deficient material from leaving the facility and undertakes other actions to improve.Assist with plant quality meetings and training of plant employees.Update and maintain Quality records on a computer. Analyze data and produce reports, as requested.Observe Production Line Workers' actions to ensure sampling and testing are done correctly.Perform and document in-process cullet sampling in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).Conduct and document incoming and outgoing load inspections.Work with the maintenance personnel to ensure equipment operates efficiently to optimize product quality.Wear appropriate site-specific personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.Understand and adhere to all company operating procedures and company safety policies.Cross-trained in other plant positions, as needed.Any other related duties, as assigned by their supervisor.COMPETENCIES : To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : High School diploma or GED is preferred.Quality Control and Operations experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Glass processing knowledge is preferred.WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described below represent the characteristics an employee will experience while performing the essential functions of this job.
