Summary
In conjunction with the Managing Attorney, the Assistant Managing Attorney will provide support to assure compliance with procedural rules of state and federal trials and appellate courts for the nationwide litigation department. In addition, the Assistant Managing Attorney will advise litigators on various procedural matters covered by the CPLR and FRCP, as well as maintain and oversee the New York litigation calendar and case docketing. The Assistant Managing Attorney may assist with the daily operations of New York Docket and Court Services department, when needed
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews for accuracy, as to form and procedural compliance, all court documents served and/or filed through the Docket and Court Services department. Undertakes legal research to advise litigators on various procedural matters covered by the CPLR and FRCP.
- Provides procedural guidance and advice to lawyers with respect to motion practice, policy and procedure in New York State and Federal Courts.
- Assists with management initiatives with respect to cross-departmental opportunities.
- Assists with issues relating to service of process including engaging process servers.
- Assists with review of new cases and rule changes to ensure that lawyers are kept apprised of recent developments under the CPLR, FRCP and FRAP.
- Undertakes procedural research assignments in order to provide advice to lawyers to ensure compliance with Court Rules.
- Responsible for continuing to develop and update knowledge of court rules and procedures in multiple jurisdictions.
- Screens and reviews incoming court documents and office correspondence to provide procedural oversight.
- Ensures that lawyers are notified of filing deadlines and court appearances.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
- New York Applicants: Salaries may vary by location. In New York City, the estimated target salary range of this role is $150,000 - $175,000. Salary determinations are made based on numerous factors, such as, but not limited to, the relevant market and the skill, experience, class or graduation year, and education of the selected candidate.

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with current New York State Bar Admission
- A minimum of 2 years of legal experience as an assistant managing attorney, managing clerk, litigation associate, court employee or government employee
- Strong knowledge of federal, state and other local court systems and their associated rules, including electronic filing systems
- Westlaw/Lexis and PACER research experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
Preferred:
- Barred in a second jurisdiction
- Familiarity with docketing software such as CompuLaw
