In this role you will provide detailed guidance and assistance in order to fulfill all loan qualification requirements in a compliant manner while ensuring exceptional member service by ongoing communication to members and business partners. You will be responsible for evaluating and validating all information provided on mortgage and home equity loan applications and communicating to members any additional requirements. You will play a valuable role serving as the applicant's point of contact throughout the real estate transaction and aiding the applicant as they navigate the home loan lending process.
Compensation: $49,504-$61,880 NOTE: This position does not offer commission pay
Reporting: Hybrid This position requires the employee to report on site to our home office located at 42 Union Street, Sidney NY. for the initial training period. As a hybrid role there will be additional on site reporting requirements to branch offices.
NOTE: This position requires the employee to register as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry and obtain a unique identifier number prior to performing any function that would meet the definition of MLO activities.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Interview prospective loan applicants and assist them in finding the best loan products for their needs.
Reviews and evaluates information on all home loan documents to determine if property and loan conditions meet credit union and regulatory guidelines.
Determine initial potential for qualification by evaluating credit history, income levels and assets/liabilities; calculate debt- to-income and loan-to-value ratios. Responsible for reviewing and addressing items involving credit, occupancy and employment verifications, order verification of employment (VOE) and if necessary, payoff information for consolidation accounts.
Verify information provided is complete and accurate, investigate any inconsistencies, and submit completed loan file to the mortgage underwriter for review.
Works closely with the underwriting department to determine conditions for loan approval.
Act as Member's main point of contact throughout the entire mortgage process, ensuring excellent levels of member service by providing guidance on the process, in a detailed and comprehensive manner.
Acts as a point of contact between the MSR's, underwriters, and other business associates.
Perform all duties of the Mortgage Loan Processor position as needed.
Identify cross-sell opportunities and cross-sell services to members.
Assembles and organizes documents in loan file, including acceptance or denials.
Keeps informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
