Job Summary
The Quality Engineer is a critical role that is responsible for ensuring the highest quality products and services that meet or exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze defect data and implement data driven corrective actions
- Drive continued improvement of the quality system and manufacturing processes
- Document, update and present corrective actions and process improvements to internal and external audiences
- Review, interpret, and ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, engineering drawings, customer contract requirements, and product test procedures
- Lead containment efforts of non-conforming material
- Interface within the quality team and across the various functions
- Communicate directly with customers and suppliers
- Review, revise and improve manufacturing work instructions/routers resulting in measurable impact
- Initiate and review engineering design changes
- Provide return to print engineering dispositions for non-conforming product
- Coordinate dispositions for non-conforming product
- Support in the preparation for and execution of external and internal audits
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Requires practical knowledge of electronics manufacturing (cable, assembly, test)
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years of prior related experience
- Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of prior related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience
Desired Skills and Experience
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) practical experience
- Experience with IPC-620, J-STD-001, Space Addendum, NASA-STD-8739.4
- Lean/Six Sigma training (preference is certified green/black belt)
- Understanding of IS09001/AS9100 and related QMS standards
- Experience using RCCA tools such as FMEA, Pareto, 5 Why, 8D, and Fishbone
- Understanding of Windows environment including standard Microsoft Office tools is required
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary Work – occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force to carry, lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves being stationary most of the time, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces.
- Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers.
Travel Requirement
- Ability to travel < 10%
Shift/Schedule
- Onsite work Monday through Friday; day shift
