Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a part-time seasonal Ultimate Frisbee Coach for the Washington, D.C. campus. Leading with Sidwell Friends School (SFS) values, the selected candidate will report to the Athletics Director, Associate Athletic Director for Physical Education, and Associate Athletic Director for Operations and is responsible for initiating various aspects of the Ultimate Frisbee Program participating in professional development activities that add value to coaching performance; and attending mandatory meetings, other training, and other SFS community programming. The season begins March 2025 This is a stipend-paid position and is not eligible for benefits.

Key Responsibilities
- Organize schedule for season.
- Supervise students during practices and competitions.
- Follow established procedures in the event of a student’s injury.
- Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Help arrange transportation to competitions with our Athletic Administration Team
- Adhere to all policies in the Employee Handbook.
- Coordinate the development and promotion of the sport; assess players’ skills and assign team positions; determine game strategy based on the team’s capabilities; and follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Student engagement, finding drills to improve skill technique, creating offensive/defensive plays and strategies.
- Help students learn sportsmanship, responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and commitment.
- Schedule games with other schools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 2 years experience playing or coaching Ultimate Frisbee.
- Demonstrate effective coaching skills and techniques and be knowledgeable of the rules, regulations, and strategies.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, colleagues, school administrators, and parents.
- Ability to work Tuesday and Friday 2:45-3:45 p.m., Thursday 3:45-4:45 p.m., attend games, and attend the DCSAA Ultimate Frisbee Championship in April 2025
- The coach must abide by SFS and the District of Columbia State Athletic Association's rules and regulations.
- As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will complete and clear a background and fingerprint screening before the first day of work. Upon hire, they will obtain CPR/AED Certification (or send in current certification), Bus training, and other requirements immediately, upon hire.
- Coaches will maintain a high standard of integrity in all aspects of team management that fosters a culture that promotes the School’s Quaker values and the student’s academic experience and intentionally integrates the school’s core values as the framework for which to coach and build athletic programs. A thoughtful approach and desire to constantly improve and innovative thinking are essential to the success of this role.
- Stipend $2,675.00-$3,852.00. Stipend will be commensurate with experience and qualifications
