WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Siegfried Advisory, LLC, an affiliate of The Siegfried Group, LLP, is looking for a Tax Advisory Manager to support its Tax Planning & Compliance group. We are looking for someone who loves challenges, believes in investing in themselves and their future, and wants to broaden their skillset and enhance their marketability while enhancing their individual leadership. This group provides value-added tax advisory consulting services to its growing group of diverse entrepreneurial clients. This position offers a unique combination of leadership and tax opportunities at one of the nation’s leading CPA firms. This role reports to the leader of our tax team and has high visibility to all executive team members. WHERE YOU’LL BE You must be commutable to either Philadelphia, PA or Wilmington, DE office locations 3 days per week. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON This is your opportunity to become a dynamic leader, expressing your entrepreneurial spirit to help clients maximize cost savings and grow their business through value-add projects! We are looking for an individual that has strong knowledge in 2 - 3 of the project types below and that are highly motivated to expand beyond their current skillset to identify, sell, deliver, and manage projects such as: Cost segregation studies Construct: Create detailed cost segregation reports, including preliminary research, reviewing files, and confirming engagement agreements. Site Visit: Conduct comprehensive site visits, documenting assets and common areas. Spreadsheet and Word Document Creation: Input building assets into spreadsheets, write property descriptions, and generate comprehensive reports. Review Process: Collaborate with management staff to ensure the accuracy of reports and communicate effectively with clients. Research & Development (R&D) tax credit consulting Manage day-to-day responsibilities on R&D Tax Credit and Sec. 174 engagements, including assisting with technical interviews with subject matter experts, preparing calculations, and preparing deliverables. Energy incentives and credits consulting Drive solutions to help our clients unlock additional ROI through energy tax credits generated from capital investments. Corporate tax due diligence Work closely with our Financial Advisory colleagues, focusing on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other transactions-related work Assist in conducting buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence, advising on tax efficient acquisitions and divestments, advising clients on tax efficient restructurings, reviewing taxes in financial models, and reviewing transaction documents Be involved in researching tax issues, preparing written communication in a succinct and deal-driven manner, helping clients with responses to tax authorities, and assisting clients in strategizing on the tax aspects of the transactions Perform analysis of a client’s tax attributes surrounding certain business events including tax basis of assets and stock, tax accounting for M&A driven transaction costs and corporate earnings and profits Perform detailed analyses of net operating loss/tax credit carry forward limitations pursuant to IRC Section 382 for both private and public clients Accounting method changes Leverage thorough knowledge of accounting methods studies, revenue recognition issues, areas of deduction, and experience with FAS 109 to identify appropriate accounting methods for clients Conduct tax analyses of timing of income, revenue and deductions, cost capitalization and revenue recognition State and local tax analysis Provide innovative state and local jurisdictional tax planning, consulting, compliance, refund reviews, and tax controversy audit support. Review multi-state returns and identify client issues and opportunities Identifying, market, and implement tax strategies for clients Conduct primary and secondary review of complex tax returns and consulting projects. Tax provision Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and documentation of domestic tax provision processes, including, but not limited to, return-to-provision calculations, deferred tax asset and payable proofs, and quarterly tax provision calculations. Coordinate and maintain the Company's uncertain tax positions. Ensure quarterly tax accounting requirements are fulfilled. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Accounting or Finance CPA, EA, or LLM in Taxation Client services experience 6 years in tax with directly relevant experience in at least 2 -3 of the key project types listed above (see ‘What You’ll Work On’) Ambitious and driven self-starter that is proactively and consistently identifying opportunities for existing business expansion and new business development Strong mental agility and desire to expand beyond current areas of technical expertise to create value for clients across all projects listed above. Ability to work an average of ~48-50 hours per week Business development acumen Strong values aligned with Corporate Culture (Fairness, Honesty, Trustworthy, Respectful, Flexible, Strong Work Ethic) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS *Please note these are not required qualifications experience is a plus. Experience managing R&D Tax Credit and Section 174 analyses Understanding of Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPs Act of 2022 Accounting methods and/or federal tax consulting experience Thorough knowledge of accounting methods studies, revenue recognition issues, areas of deduction, and experience preferred with FAS 109 and compliance. Considerable knowledge of inventory, including LIFO. Comprehensive technical skills, including identifying appropriate accounting methods, the tax analyses of timing of income, revenue and deductions, cost capitalization and revenue recognition.
