This position performs color matching and other laboratory tests and evaluations per customer requests; completes supporting documentation and communicates results; completes assigned duties/projects by following well-defined standards and procedures. Also can involve some travel to customer sites for technical support and guidance. Meets customer needs to the best of the incumbent’s ability, in line with the SIEGWERK EIC LLC philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority. Adheres to all departmental/company policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintains a neat, clean and safe work area; (2) maintains regular and consistent attendance; and (3) maintains positive working relationships.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs routine testing and evaluation of results: Performs color matching, mounts proofs and submits to customer on time; Tests properties/materials of ink systems, i.e., comparing drying speeds, gloss, blocking, etc.
- Provides clear documentation, written reports, such as recording results, completing lab requests, writing formulas, all color matches, etc.
- Enters formulas into SAP for R&D and SCM.
- May assist in other areas as needed, including assisting Q.C. Lab with “Adds” and instructing Production on “First Time Inks.”
- Handles hazardous waste properly including dumping retain and lab samples, labeling containers etc.
- Schedules and prioritizes color matching and technical projects.
- Communicates with customers daily and responds to customer needs and concerns.
- May travel to customer site and/or other SIEGWERK facilities to assist press side with color matching and print concerns, e.g., drying speeds, pinholing, strength, or large volume color match projects.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of one year related experience. Chemistry experience/knowledge preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent teamwork and good communication skills.
- Knowledge of raw materials, ink systems, production processes, available resources, lab and computer equipment, preferred.
