A Crane Operator utilizes overhead cranes to move large generator rotors (15 to 200 tons) throughout various steps of the production process.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Safely rig, lift, transport, and load generator rotors onto fixed stands, roller stands, and machines, such as lathes and horizontal boring mills.
- Regularly inspect lifting equipment
- Assist with mechanical hand skills tasks in other work areas of the department such as rotor winding, assembly, and balance on an as needed basis
- Engage in continuous improvement by applying 5S methodology as a component of a Lean production system.

The Large Generator Rotor Operations team is responsible for manufacturing large electric generator rotors weighing up to 200 tons. We operate within the Large Generator team to supply new 150 - 1000 megawatt generators to power plants all over the world. In addition to manufacturing new rotors, we also service generator rotors by providing inspections, rewinds, modernizations, and upgrades.
