Snapshot of Your Day:
We are looking for a Primary Substation Engineer in Raleigh, NC to develop FACTS (Flexible Alternate Current Transmission Systems) and substations electromechanical design criteria.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Develop general arrangement, layout and elevation drawings, bus works considering electrical and mechanical parameter for FACTS and substations projects.
- Develop Grounding grid designs and drawings.
- Perform cable ampacity, lightning, illumination, and station auxiliary load calculations.
- Create equipment specifications and detail bill of materials.
- Perform trench and conduit design.
- Develop conceptual designs for pricing purposes.
- Perform electrical engineering design and calculations.
- Support 3D Design for Proposals.
- Review manufacturer's documentation.
- Develop engineering execution plans in support of a particular project schedule.
- Develop 3D Conceptual Layouts for FACTS projects execution.
- Ensure that the engineering deliverables meet the target scheduled dates, inform the Project Manager of possible delays or risk in the project.
- Support Marketing and Project teams in the execution of a project and in customer meetings.
- Identify, notify, and provide solutions on potential problems that may adversely impact safety, reliability, cost and schedule on a project.
- Perform special assignments and provide technical advice in their area of expertise.
- Provide review and oversee as well as training to entry level engineers.
- 20% domestic and 10% international travel required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience.
- Full term of experience must include: AIS and GIS arrangements and configurations;
- Grounding, ampacity, lightning protection, and auxiliary load calculations;
- Substation design in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Autocad;
- NEC (National Electrical Code) and NESC (National Electrical Safety Code);
- High Voltage equipment and their specifications, such as Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Disconnect Switches, Measurement Transformers, Surge Arresters;
- IEEE, ANSI and IEC standards;
- Selection and design of bus works in high voltage substations;
- Knowledge of the risks associated with high voltage and transmission and substations projects; and
- BIM methodology.
- Professional Engineering license.
- 20% domestic and 10% international travel required.
