A Snapshot of Your Day
The Product Safety Officer (PSO) ensures that the management systems for Product Safety are implemented, maintained, and supervised to ensure their continued efficiency. Similar to a quality auditor, a PSO has the responsibility to raise non-compliance issues through both the product safety and business hierarchies.
This is a quality assurance and governance role.
The PSO shall develop and drive a customized product safety strategy in their business in line with the Siemens Energy product safety strategy.
Your profile

10 years proven experience in the field of Product Safety or Quality field and a Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical or similar.

Strong technical, commercial, legal and business background, both in the power business in general and in the specific generator business is preferred.

Strong proficiency in communication and influencing without direct authority.

You have a willingness and excellent abilities to collaborate across the entire organization.
Your responsibilities

Establish, implement, and maintain an appropriate Product Safety System for the operational business and ensure the conformity of products is conducted and support in the preparation of process instructions across the business relevant to product safety, throughout the product lifecycle.

Identify the need for the appointment of key subject matter authorities (SMEs) and any required training to support the business in ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and technical standards for product safety as applicable to business area products.

Establish, implement, and maintain controlling systems like “Product Safety Review” (PSR) consisting of appointed SMEs and function representatives to review efficiency of the implemented product safety management system including regulatory and technical compliance, performance management, training, and “Product Safety Issues” (PSI) handling.

Participate at minimum once per year in a “Management Review Board” to update management with regards to the implemented product safety management system, including efficiency of implemented improvement measures and areas needing management attention.

Collaborate with Quality Management in the planning and execution of internal audits, ensuring all aspects of the implemented Product Safety Management system are audited over a 3-year period (to align with ISO certification cycle).

Coordinate the implementation and efficiency of improvement measures or measures required in response to new regulations. This includes those identified and approved through internal audit, compliance audits, or management review and identify training needs, provide, and recommend training in the business regarding Product Safety for the organization.
