Do you like to solve problems that help others and provide the best support regarding Materials possible to our products within Siemens Energy, especially for our Large Gas and Steam Turbine products?

As an engineer on the global team, you will use your expertise to support technology development projects, improving the performance and reliability of Siemens Energy's gas and steam turbines. Your focus will be on assessing and addressing corrosion in components and materials, working in collaboration with multidisciplinary experts to evaluate material behavior in different environments like steam, water, and gases. This joint effort will facilitate detailed material performance evaluations and explore the effects of corrosion and its protection on material integrity.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Development and evaluation of protection concepts to prevent corrosion and to avoid harmful impact of media on gas and steam turbine components
  • Selection of suitable materials, necessary test programs and supervision of their execution in internal and external laboratories as well as subsequent evaluation
  • Evaluation of impurities and inhibitors on the steam cycle and other working media
  • Representing Siemens Energy's interests in project-related research committees and incorporating acquired knowledge into future development projects
  • Managing R&D programs within a specified budget and time frame


What You Bring

  • PhD / Master in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering with strong focus on materials or another similar field; 5 to 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Specialization in the field of corrosion, corrosion mechanisms and material selection of metallic materials.
  • Corrosion testing and protection methods in theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of common alloys and their corrosion mechanisms in well-established energy solutions.
  • Excellent team skills with effective communication & interpersonal skills to blend in a multicultural and cross-regional working team but also like to work independently.
  • Advanced English and German skills.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
