Transformer Service Crew Leader 2 (CL 2) is a working field service supervisor responsible for assignment of personnel, environment, safety, and overall performance of crew/contractors on field projects.
You are responsible for the successful execution of projects and supervising, both technically and administratively, crew members and assigned contractor(s) and is encouraged to take critical and/or corrective action for the well-being of the crew, environment, project, customer, and/or organization as a whole. CL 2 reports to assigned Transformer Resource Manager (TRM) and is encouraged to have effective communication with their manager throughout active projects and when awaiting assignment or standby time. Effective communication with Project Managers (PMs), Business Development Managers (BDMs), Testing Manager, and QTC Manager is also required. CL 2 must seek approval from the TRM prior to re-assigning a crew member. When deemed vital, you may remove crew member(s) from jobsite if safety or behavior is not in compliance with Siemens Energy policies, guidelines, or safety policies.
You are responsible for company assets, including the maintenance, cleanliness, safe operation, and condition of equipment/vehicles (assigned, rented, loaned, or leased), and the corresponding contents, tools, and accessories. Requires extensive travel and non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.

How You’ll Make An Impact
- Ensure projects are timely and within budget performance of assigned projects. Acquire budget parameters of assigned projects
- Scope of work, hours/days budgeted, allowed expenses, and anticipated vendor/subcontractor delivery requirements
- Coordination of heavy equipment, tankers, test equipment, and various vendors. Ensure vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials are in safe, operating order and perform daily/weekly/monthly/annual maintenance service, inventory, and corrective repairs with assigned crew.
- Maintain effective communication with site contact for coordination and project management, including daily written or verbal updates with TRM including project changes, safety reviews (i.e., tailgate meetings), safety incidents (near misses, safety violations, environmental incidents, security incidents), work scope changes, etc.
- The CL 2 is an authority in testing, troubling shooting, and resolving issues with no assistance from others. Perform work to required Quality Assurance (QA) specification, including vacuum, oil logs and job walk-down for issues prior to project completion.
- The CL 2 will provide all required paperwork daily on a consistent basis without reminder and provides all project deliverables on a consistent basis without reminder.
- Shown guide in combined field service technical assembly, maintenance, and repair of power and distribution transformers and transformer accessories in the utility/energy electrical industry.
- Possess comprehensive skills to interpret the scope of work, assembly, general arrangement drawings, electrical prints and one-line diagrams, as well as test data and factory instruction manuals. Implement the accurate operation of transformer oil processing, including vacuum, oil filling, circulating, and draining oil-filled transformers. Complete documentation of the process, as required.
- High level field supervisory skills not only to supervise the crew members and subcontractors as assigned, but also to provide a healthy and environmentally friendly work environment
- Maintaining Class A CDL requirements as described in contract section 9.09 article c) qualifies for a yearly bonus.
- High school diploma, GED, technical vocational/apprenticeship training combined with prior field service or equivalent related experience
- Special abilities in one or more of: Distribution, Power, and Transmission electrical substation equipment in power ranges of low-voltage (4160V – 13kV), medium-voltage (13kV – 69kV), and high-voltage (69kV – 800 kV) highly preferred. Detailed on-the-job training for the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of LV, MV and HV substation power plant electrical equipment, and specifically power and distribution transformers
