Siena Engineering Group is looking for a GIS/CAD Technician to join our team of dedicated professionals providing quality telecom engineering services to our clients. Our passion for all things network and our emphasis on cultivating solid partnerships ensures that the network solutions we design for our clients are cost effective, reliable, and delivered on time.

The GIS/CAD Technician will leverage knowledge of various software products, network design practices and industry standards to produce maps, geospatial products and construction plan sets that support the mission of our engineering team.

GIS/CAD Technician Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Drafting, Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience designing and delivering telecommunications construction plans
  • Experience working with various industry platforms including ESRI, ArcMap, ArcPro, 3GIS, Global Mapper, Google Earth Pro, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Orbitas, Trimble, IKE GPS, OSPInsight, Comsof, IQGEO, VertiGIS, Vetro, and Smallworld
  • Ability to analyze a problem and utilize the most relevant data set to deliver a quality product
  • Exceptional collaborative and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Visio, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge of civil engineering, Right of Way and utility construction rules, policies and practices
  • Knowledge of OSP/ISP and Telecommunications Industry Standards, best practices, methods, materials, specifications, fiber optic network architecture and design - FTTP, FTTH, FTTX, and GPON, XGPON, XGSPON
  • Willingness to take ownership and ensure project deadlines are met or exceeded
  • Ability to travel to project sites on occasion

GIS/CAD Technician Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering and management to plan and document network
  • Collect, update, and integrate data sets from various sources
  • Prepare and plot plans for presentations, permitting, and construction
  • Understand and apply contract obligations, client specifications, and industry standards
  • Assimilate and apply client specific network deployment and documentation standards
  • Provide support and technical training to members of GIS/CAD organization
  • Develop and maintain strong technical acumen in all things geospatial
