POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the implementation of programs and activities within the independent retirement living facility. This position requires top-notch communication and organizational skills. This position coordinates group programs and activities, ensures proper attendance, leads, motivates, and interacts effectively with our older adults.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the functions of the Siena Shoppe. Assist with purchasing supplies for restocking, price items as needed, assist with volunteer training and day to day operations of the shop
- Assist with Programming both internal and external including; set-up, tear down and leading the programs (i.e.: bingo, book club, bowling, and special events and outings)
- Assist with the upkeep of the curio cabinet displays
- Participate in evaluating the overall effectiveness of programs and activities quarterly
- Maintain inventory or materials needed for assigned programs and activities
- Research, develop and execute creative, innovative, and educational programs and activities for the residents
- Collaborate with other departments for the best outcome of the programs and activities you are responsible for
- Lead programs and activities while encouraging participation, energy, and enthusiasm
- Design room set-ups and coordinate room setups with other departments
- Serve as a point person for resident-led activities
- Collaborate with the Resident Relations Coordinator on social media collateral
- Transport community members to and from pre-arranged destinations
- Transport equipment and supplies as requested by Leadership Team
- Ability to drive the various vehicles in our fleet
- Practicing safe driving habits
- Following all state and national safety regulations and standards
- Accurately following routes, maps, and directions
- Opening vehicle doors and assisting passengers/loading and unloading baggage and cargo
- Keeping exterior of vehicle clean and presentable
- Maintaining vehicle equipment in good order; filling the gas tank, general motor vehicle maintenance as needed for safety
- Notify Maintenance Director when the vehicle is in need of maintenance and inspections.
- Cleaning windows, windshields, and mirrors as needed
- Keeping interior of vehicle clean of debris and clutter
- Loading and unloading vehicle
- Completing documentation such as logs, mileage, or cargo and passenger reports
- Following schedules and rerouting in a timely manner when faced with traffic or congestion
- Be part of the emergency response team by staying alert to residence responses, abnormal signs, and symptoms, and responding appropriately.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws regulatory agency requirements.
- Report any legal, ethical, or safety concerns to the Community Director.
- Maintain the respect, dignity, and physical safety of the residents.
- Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and work cooperatively and favorably with resident family members.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Community Director.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of three to five years’ experience organizing and leading programs and activities. Experience working with the senior population is a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance. Proficiency with the internet, vendor websites and Microsoft office package, Publisher, Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.
A thorough background investigation, including personal and professional references, criminal background, and motor vehicle review will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug/alcohol screen following a conditional offer of employment.
