Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party search firm recruiting for a client's company's Accountant to be based in its Reno, Nevada office. This is an on-site position and not remote nor hybrid. The hiring company is a private family office and holding company with assets in a variety of investments and has a long track record of building great businesses in partnership management teams. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversee the posting of GL activity, including cash, adjusting, and reconciling entries.
• Maintain detailed accounting records, including the maintenance and creation of supporting
schedules for al areas of the balance sheet and financial statements
• Prepare the accounting close per the reporting schedule, including gathering supporting
documentation, tyin to schedules, and adjusting GL records as needed to ensure accuracy
• Assist in the preparation of annual tax returns, tax planning, and working with external tax
team to provide necessary documentation and ensure timely filings
• Play a key role in analyzing current internal controls & processes and procedures, providing
recommendations
on areas of improvement, and assisting in the implementation of such
• Assist in the monitoring of both the AP & AR processes, ensuring timely payments and tracking of receipts
• Lead in the preparation of financial statements for a variety of entities
• Prepare account and investment analysis for COMPANY's portfolio of investments
• Provide cash flow analysis and monitoring, including liquidity projections for optimal treasury
management
• Continuous and active monitoring of projects, initiatives, and critical items as designated by
Management
• Work with external vendors on the timely implementation of new general ledger and investment
software, providing the necessary information, and communicating requirements to Management
to ensure goals and requirements are met
• Help manage and maintain documentation relating to ownership and equity of portfolio companies
• Assist in the valuation of subsidiary companies and portfolio investments, including
reconciliation to the GL
• Review credit card statement and cash reconciliations, ensuring support and proper accounting
treatment
• Generate reports/schedules (i.e., report generation) as assigned; Prepare ad hoc presentations
and analyses
• Help to improve internal filing system, including restructuring to match current
processes, and
legal & accounting structure
• Other duties as assigned
Education, Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a recognized four-year university is strongly desired, or 3 years of relevant accounting experience
• CPA and/or CPA candidate is preferred
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving entrepreneurial environment where multi-tasking is the norm
• Possesses the skills to handle varying workloads, managing multiple projects, and delivering tasks on time
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
• Proven history of financial statement preparation, journal entry posting & analysis, and GL reconciliations
• Strong accounting knowledge in GAAP, general ledger management, and cash accounting
• Highly effective verbal & written communication skills, including preparing & presenting complex analyses
• Ability to maintain confidences and confidential information in the execution of
responsibilities
• Strong skills in Microsoft suite, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint in an intermediate to advanced level
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
