JOB SUMMARY
The Community Liaison is responsible for promoting the utilization of hospice services and increasing awareness of the hospice Medicare benefit. This role focuses on developing and maintaining referral sources, building sustainable relationships within the community, and supporting growth objectives through effective communication, education, and marketing strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong background in marketing, with healthcare experience highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote the utilization of hospice services and understanding of the hospice Medicare benefit.
- Initiate contracts with facilities, communicating contract details accurately.
- Identify the need for education within the community and contracted facilities, assisting with in-service development.
- Coordinate the referral process, providing timely follow-up.
- Report facility complaints to the appropriate manager for resolution.
- Assist in developing marketing plans to meet budgeted admission goals.
- Learn and execute consultative selling strategies to establish sustainable relationships with targeted referral sources.
- Participate in strategic planning for the assigned territory.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with clinical staff to ensure seamless communication between marketing and clinical teams.
- Expand professional competence by increasing technical, industry, and financial knowledge of hospice services.
- Implement marketing communications, advertising, and public relations strategies to support growth and meet community needs.
- Analyze referral patterns, competitive strengths, and weaknesses within the area.
- Meet or exceed established productivity goals.
- Promote growth and profitability through the responsible use of marketing materials and resources.
- Represent the organization’s mission and vision professionally to various groups, organizations, and the public.
- Conduct all interactions ethically, adhering to Conditions of Participation, Code of Conduct, and relevant regulations.
- Report any allegations of patient abuse or misappropriation of patient property.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Daily travel is required, with exposure to conditions such as odors, infections, illness, or patient behavior in various care settings.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Principal contacts include patients, families, physicians, office staff, field staff, and the public.
RISK EXPOSURE
There is a moderate risk due to interactions within patient homes and care facilities.
LIFTING REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to lift 25-50 pounds, with regular walking, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, and sensory engagement.
