Overview
The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is searching for an Electrician to perform all levels of maintenance and operation of the institutional power systems from the 138kv voltage level and below.

Responsibilities
Responsible for subsystems that interact within the power systems and perform a variety of journeyman level trade functions associated with installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining high voltage electric power-controlling equipment and/or distribution lines.
Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
Operate high voltage equipment systems consisting of hydraulic and pneumatic components and perform switching for configuration changes and isolation.
Operate and maintain power substation equipment including transformers, breakers, relays, communication devices, metering, wiring and buswork, plus other related equipment and structures.
Perform pole line construction and maintenance: insulators, switches, poles, wiring and other related equipment at voltages of 138kv, 34.5kv and 7.2kv.
Operate remote breaker tracking devices, Drymax oil filtering system, digger derrick truck for pole installations.
Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
Perform testing using Megger, TTR, Ducter, High Current Breaker Test Set and High Voltage Test Sticks.
Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
May install, maintain, and operate fire alarm system, Lenel security systems, video camera systems, and low voltage systems for facilities infrastructure.
Qualifications
Requires knowledge of electrical principles, procedures, materials, and safety standards governing electrical systems above 600 volts. In addition, requires general mechanical skills and knowledge, and in some cases may require knowledge of electronic principles as they pertain to electronic control circuitry. In some situations, includes testing, repairing, and maintaining electric-generating equipment in co-generation facilities.
