We are now seeking a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to join our dedicated team and help us provide high-quality mental health care to those in need.
As a SUD Counselor at Sierra Meadows Behavioral and Ascend Behavioral Health, you will play a key role in providing counseling, running psychoeducational groups, and working alongside a supportive team to deliver exceptional care. We are looking for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about working with a diverse population experiencing moderate to severe mental illness. Responsibilities:
- Complete admissions and intakes for new clients.
- Communicate with families and referral sources regarding client progress, as permitted by client consent.
- Write daily progress notes and group notes for clients.
- Facilitate transportation when required.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Review and update treatment plans regularly.
- Prepare and research new materials for group sessions.
- Assess clients' levels of care and recommend continuing care or aftercare services.
- Lead daily educational and experiential client groups.
- Coordinate client schedules and communicate needs with the treatment team.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager on client admissions and discharges.
- Attend all mandatory clinical and staff meetings, and participate in required company trainings.
- Abide by all regulations from DHCS, JCAHO, and other governing agencies.
- Maintain active certification and license in drug and alcohol counseling.
- Participate in workshops and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current certification through a licensed certifying board (e.g., CAADE, CCAPP) or registered RADT-1.
- 1-3 years of experience as an AOD/SUD Counselor and/or Case Manager, with strong professional references.
- Specific knowledge of process addiction and treatment resources is a plus.
- Advanced skills in assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and documentation.
- Knowledge of dual diagnosis treatment and non-pharmacological symptom management techniques.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screenings and background checks.
