Billing Clerk Responsibilities
A Billing Clerk is responsible for managing and processing all incoming payments, ensuring the company’s payments are processed and deposited in a timely fashion. The Billing Clerk processes all payments, including over the counter, contract, and insurance payments. They sort, prepare, and deposit payments, scan and batch deposits, pull missing Explanation of Benefits, reconcile payments to the treasury report, communicate with billing staff on status of payments and deposits, assists in maintaining accurate payment records.
Administrative Duties
- Sorts Processes all incoming mail
- Batches and deposits any incoming payments
- Pulls missing EOBS from various sources
- Scans and uploads files to the billing drive
- Collects and reconciles OTC cash from Front Desk
- Processes insurance credit card payments
- Tracks and Updates Treasury report
- Requests for EFTs or ACH from various payers
- Maintains an organized system of deposits and payment records
- Works with payment posting staff to assure smooth workflows
- Picks up mail and makes deposits at various banks
- Reconciles deposits for any errors
- Scans and indexes documents
- Communicates with Financial department as needed
- Assists coworkers with clerical duties
- Other duties as assigned
- Conducts self in accordance with company policies, procedures, and employee handbook
- Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
Skills/Characteristics:
A Billing Clerk must have good math skills, familiar with basic office procedures, Microsoft excel, and the use of office equipment (multi-line phone, computer, etc). They should have an excellent work ethic, customer service skills and phone etiquette.
Experience:
A/R clerk experience a plus but will train.
Basic Math test required
Education:
Highschool Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
This position is heavily administrative in a typical office environment. One should expect a fair amount of desk time, along with walking through the office and some bending and stooping.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
