What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flying Probe Test Technician position at Sierra Proto Express?
In this hands-on position, the Flying Probe Test Technician is responsible for all testing, including trouble-shooting and repair of PCBA’s to ensure the highest levels of quality products as required by the customers, as indicated by IPC-A-610, and as directed by management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Function Name
- Strong in PCBA /Testing background
- Demonstrate basic functional and/or process knowledge and participate in the process, which requires basic competency related to function.
- Demonstrate technical skills, and ability to read drawings and use measurement instruments
- Conduct and/or perform test process per procedure
- Review Electronic products, components, and systems to ensure production quality standards are met
- Perform advanced–level diagnostics/repairs, assist Engineer staff with detailed reporting and analysis
- Provide technical phone support to customers for repair issues and assist customer service/inquiries
- Alert management of any potential failure which could lead to quality issues
- Perform troubleshooting, debug, and repairs as authorized and as required
QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS- EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum associate degree with 2-3 years of experience as a test engineer/technician
- Experience using most common test instruments like power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Knowledge of Viscom SPI, AOI and X-Ray Programming.
- Ability to read & understand schematics and correlate them to the circuit board assembly
- Ability to test and debug
- PCBA touch-up/rework, hand soldering, mechanical assembly
- PCBA point to point wiring; cables/ connector/ wire soldering
- Inspection: components, cable/harness / PCBA
- Ability to understand technical equipment & operate test instrument
- Ability to use and operate mechanical hand tools
- Data entry, report generation
- Basic MS-Office software
- Software install & configuration

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must frequently stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift 20 lbs., open filing cabinets, and bend, stand, or climb on step ladders as necessary.

California Salary Range: $25 - $30 per hour, with Benefits and Perks.
