What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Unit Financial Analyst Accountant position at Sierra Sheet & Plate?
A key supplier of Titanium sheet and plate products to the Aerospace Industry, is looking to add a Business Unit Financial Analyst Accountant. The ideal Business Unit Financial Analyst should have experience in a manufacturing finance or accounting position that utilizes cost reporting and financial information to collect, analyze, and report on variances and trends in product costs. In addition, cross functional interactions on understanding the manufacturing operating costs for a multiproduct manufacturer.
The position reports to the General Manager with indirect reporting to and support from the Controller.
The position is classified as full-time, Exempt. Typical days and hours of work are Monday to Friday 8AM to 5PM. On a workload basis this position may require additional scheduled days and hours, including some weekends.
Requirement:
· Proficiency reading, comprehending, analyzing, and explaining financial statement balances/trends and information.
· Ability to collaborate with local and remote staff to generate reports, collect data and learn the operating system to generate existing reports, create ad hoc reports and prepare supporting documentation to respond to management inquiries. This individual will be responsible for learning and, efficiently and accurately, process business unit transactions with respect to cost accounting and invoicing such as daily review/update routines and invoicing/posting.
· Define root cause issues for variances in expected results versus actual results on workorders using system data and feedback from operators/manufacturing staff and provide context in the SIOP process.
· Understand local compliance requirements and maintain compliance with respect to sales & use tax, local property taxes and exemptions, and business licenses.
· Collaborate with production staff to fix the errors so the workorder can financially close, accurately.
· Perform financial analyses to support investment in capital projects and assist the Controller with cost allocation model updates.
· Develop/report daily sales margin review with General Manager and Controller.
· Perform month end reconciliations of accounts receivable aging, accounts payable aging and inventory balances to general ledger. Support centralized Finance and Accounting functions by learning about and performing some consolidated reporting tasks.
· Proficiency with inventory financial management including calculating inventory turns by stage of production (i.e. raw material, work in process and finished goods).
Support General Manager and sales team in identifying which items are aging to help support production and sales efforts/decisions and support with cost elements of proposals and any analysis needed to support the bidding process.
Requirement:
· Bachelor’s in accounting or finance required.
· Must have 2-4 years minimum manufacturing experience.
· Ability to plan work effectively.
· Support, coordinate and work with the team to meet the deadlines assigned, and make sound decisions
· Self-sufficient and dependable with a strong ability to multi-task and shift priorities
· Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
· Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills
· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience in databases & ERPs preferred
· Must be able to work in a sitting position at desk and use computer majority of business day
Travel under 5% of the time is possible, but only if business conditions dictate.
