Phlebotomist - Lab Aide Certified - Per Diem
Shift : Variable, 10 hour shifts
Job Description : PATIENT POPULATION :
The patient population served can be all patients including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the Lead Phlebotomist, the Phlebotomist / Lab Aide Certified performs quality routine and advanced venipuncture, capillary and urine collections and is able to instruct patients.
Must be able to work normal / scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE :

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be a high school graduate or equivalent. Completion of certified training and instruction as outlined in the California Code of Regulations required. Six (6) months certified phlebotomy experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Ability to read, write and speak English. Able to communicate effectively.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages if required.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer data entry skills preferred.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS :
Must have and maintain a California Certified Phlebotomy Technician certificate. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.

Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.
- Performs, accurately labels, and promptly delivers routine and advanced venipuncture, capillary, and urine collections.
- Performs accurate patient identification and computerized clerical duties as appropriate.
- Maintains organized, well-stocked, neat and clean work area.
- Able to use phone / FAX.
