Ultrasonographer - Per Diem
Shift : Variable, 8 hour shifts
Job Description : PATIENT POPULATION :
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Director of Radiology, and in consultation with the Medical Director, the Ultrasonographer Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of technical procedures within the imaging modality of Diagnostic Ultrasound for Radiological Diagnosis, with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Duties include scanning of pelvic, OB / GYN, abdominal, small parts, and vascular imaging. Responsible for patient care, comfort and completion of required procedures. Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies.
Follows AIDET and accepts reassignment and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner.
On call responsibilities required. If Technologist is trained in multiple modalities, (C.T., MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology), on call responsibilities will be assumed for two of the aforementioned modalities during the call period. Example : (Ultrasound / Nuclear medicine or C.T. / Radiography).
Must be able to work normal / scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have one (1) year of Ultrasound experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Completion of Ultrasonography program from accredited school. ARDMS certification preferred. Must have and maintain Trophon certification within 30 days of hire.

3 Assists in instruction of students in respective areas. Responsible for instructing Technologists and students in Ultrasound procedures.

14 Maintains an average of no more than 2-3 errors and in the Computed Radiography system 2-3 errors = 4.
15 Demonstrates capability to document all necessary measurements, sonographer findings and anatomy in a manner consistent with the guidelines set forth by the Medical Director
16 Notifies radiologist of exams requiring STAT readings during and after normal business hours. Sends exams requiring Teleradiology reads in a timely manner to Teleradiology Company. Scan returned reports into Teleradiology system.
