EVS Aide II - Full Time

Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the EVS Aide II performs a variety of housekeeping duties. Uses a variety of cleaning devices and solutions in performance of job responsibilities. Ensures that customer quality expectations are met. Performs other duties as requested.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have previous hospital or hotel experience preferred.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations."
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid California driver's license.

The employee will also be required as a condition of employment to enroll in the DMV Pull Notice program to allow the Hospital to receive notice of any changes in their driving record. The Employee must maintain at least state required limits of liability insurance/evidence of financial responsibility on my vehicles (such limits may not be adequate and I should consider higher limits for my own protection)."
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Indicates Essential Function
1 * Removes all general trash, soiled linen and biohazard containers from designated areas throughout the hospital and Medical Office Building. Disposing of all general trash. Properly storing and replacing biohazard containers. All linen is stored in locked area, for soiled linen only.
a, All biohazard waste is transported in closed sealed containers to a locked area designated for Hazardous Waste only.
b. Follows Infection Control guidelines and all precautions for preventing cross contamination from solid waste, biohazard materials and soiled linen.
c. Maintains the secure environment for all waste storage facilities by closing and locking doors, gates and containers.
2 * Uses Personal Protective Equipment, proper body mechanics and lifting techniques at all times when handling or transporting waste or soiled linen materials.
3 * Must be trained to operate trash compactor and bailer in a safe and proper manner.
4 Assists with cleaning the rooms of discharged or transferred patients.
5 * Must be in attendance and arrive to work on time.
