Get to Know This Role
The Groundskeeper is responsible for the cultivation and care of the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.'s landscaped grounds. They will work within the aesthetic guidelines established to protect, maintain, rehabilitate and enhance the surrounding natural landscape and gardens. The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the sustainability mission of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company standards by minimizing resources consumed (such as water), emissions released (from power tools), and chemicals applied. The Groundskeeper will work in a close team environment within the Natural Resources Department, while also being assigned to independent tasks and occasionally pursue collaborations with other departments within the brewery such as Sustainability, Wellness, Taproom Restaurant and Customer Experience. Attention to conservation and low-impact practices while executing work projects is a PRIORITY.

What You Will Do
- Daily morning upkeep of front-of-house areas including leaf blowing, hand weeding, and litter pick up to maintain a high-quality customer experience
- Daily general landscaping duties, such as planting, pruning, mowing and mulching in order to maintain the health and visual appearance of landscaped areas.
- Support Natural Resources team as necessary
- Maintenance of forest grounds by cutting, pruning, and chipping, as well as building and maintaining trails
- Removal of non-native plant species
- Implement snow/ice removal procedures for sidewalks and roads on property. This may require working long hours on late shifts.
- Monitor irrigation system and any erosion issues within the boundaries of the property.
- Performs housekeeping and sanitation tasks such as sweeping, washing windows and walls, cleaning restrooms, cleaning/polishing equipment and removing or sorting trash/recycling/compost
- Strive to elevate quality, minimize waste and inefficiency and improve performance in the execution of daily work activities
- Cultivate positive working relationships and foster an environment of effective teamwork
Please Apply if You Have
- Experience with the use and maintenance of hand tools such as hand saws, axes, pruners and shovels required and
- Experience with leaf blowers, mowers, weed eaters, and chainsaws using safe handling practices required and
- Experience with/general knowledge of safely operating wood chippers, tractors, and snow removal equipment preferred
- Knowledge of Western NC plant species, interest in forest health, conservation and sustainable agriculture practices, and ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to be a team player, complete projects within a given timeline and work independently as needed
- DL - Driver's License free of any major violations in the last three years upon hire required
