Position Overview Section

Essential Job Functions
- Advise and consult on all program projects, responsible for overall testing program measurement databank, assist in strategic assessment development strategy.
- Advise and assist in use of a wide range of analytical techniques (e.g., scaling, equating, item and test analyses, pool assembly and configuration of computer-adaptive test [CAT] items), evaluate properties of modern item formats (e.g., serious games), apply Item Response Theory (IRT), assist in research design, power analyses, help ensure optimal methodology in assessment measurement.
- Design and conduct up to three test development analytic projects per year. An example analytic project would be to design a sampling plan and collect data to establish a normative population of Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) test takers. A second example would be to assemble a pool of items in a specific domain based on item psychometrics and assess the performance of the items.
- Up to 10 times per year, provide direct support on project teams as the principal psychometrician. Projects include career field consultations on entrance standards, in which test and outcome data are analyzed to determine cut scores and optimal composites that address career field concerns like training attrition or low number of qualifying candidates at accession.
Minimum Position Requirements
- Have a Ph.D. in psychology with psychometrics experience and at least 5 years' experience.
