POSITION OVERVIEW SECTION
The Warfighter Interactions and Readiness Division (RHW) located within RH is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Acoustician to support our Cognition and Modeling Branch's (RHWE) RDT&E efforts.
Essential Job Functions
- Have a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and / or sensitive information. The NDA shall be provided to the Government Program Manager by start of performance.
- Assist with the direction of or recommend new RDT&E efforts across the physical acoustics and bioacoustics technical subject matter areas.
- Conduct and evaluate technical reviews of research proposals, SOWs, and project reports at the discretion of the government representative.
- Maintain or guide aircraft noise data collection capabilities and will conduct experiments to study the acoustic properties of materials and effects of sound waves in different environments including fieldwork to record and document data.
- Develop and implement numerical models to simulate acoustic phenomena using software tools and analyze experimental data to draw conclusions about sound propagation and mission-related impacts.
- Prepare reports, research papers, and briefings to communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on projects involving acoustic measurement, material testing, and environmental assessments.
- Serve as the focal point for requirements and recommend the purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for acoustic testing and analysis.
