Overview and Impact
The Festival Projectionist is responsible for operating motion picture projection equipment, aligning with industry standards and ensuring an excellent cinematic experience for SIFF patrons.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to Associate Director of Cinema Technology
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates digital cinema and related exhibition peripherals, including DCP servers, Blu-rays, and other alternate sources.
- Inspects DCPs and Digital files for quality playback.
- Ingests content as needed, as well as KDM’s as they arrive.
- Alerts Technical Manager of any issues that may affect proper playback of content.
- Confirms that all content needed for cinema events/screenings is in-house.
- Builds playlists for cinema events/screenings that include correct sponsor ads, trailers and feature.
- Sets up, breaks down, and monitors auditorium equipment, such as microphones, PAs, and mixers.
- Routinely checks picture, sound and overall presentation quality of each screening.
- Maintains strong and regular communication with Technical Manager and Venue Managers.
- Performs regular upkeep in projection area(s) to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of cinema projection experience is required
- Previous film festival experience is preferred
- Familiarity with G-Suite is a plus
- Ability to work a flexible schedule consisting of nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment: This position will work onsite at specified theater/s.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patrons and coworkers, sit and stand for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds.
