About This Position
Join our marketing and communications dream team for the 51st Seattle International Film Festival. We are a group of hard-working marketing pros with a passion for all things cinema. The Festival Publications Editor is responsible for working with programmers and outside contributors in writing, editing, and proofreading content for the Festival printed materials and website.
Dates of Employment: March 3–April 18, 2024
Reports to: Festival Publications Managing Editor
Compensation: $22.00/hour
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and proofread content for all publications (print and digital) as assigned
- Collaborate with the Managing Editor in timeline and workflow management
- Coordinate with other departments to gather information and issue writing assignments
- Manage proofing process, ensuring all protocols and approvals are met
- Input and change content in database throughout the production process
- Meet tight deadlines on a regular basis
- Assist, if needed, generating film webpages by entering content into CMS
- Assist with additional copywriting, proofing, and updating as needed
- Update SIFF written Style Guide as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- At least one year of experience in project management, writing, editing, and publication production
- Demonstrated team leadership skills including outstanding interpersonal skills to delegate responsibilities and effectively communicate project needs
- Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Advanced skills in project management, writing, editing, and proofreading
- Extensive knowledge of AP style, journalistic principles, and publishing practices
- Experience with web content management system preferred
- Passion for, and knowledge of, film and cinema
SIFF’s primary business systems this position will use are Google Business Suite, Filemaker, Ingeniux, and Adobe review functionality. Experience with these is a plus.
Work Environment: Hybrid allowed. This temporary position will work onsite at our Seattle office (SIFF Film Center). Remote work is allowed, with schedule agreed upon with supervisor.
