The Product Design Engineer will provide engineering support to all aspects of product design and development ensuring achievement of project objectives. This individual will research, analyze, and design components or a system of components for new products or improve existing products while reducing cost, or enhancing performance. Designs and develops products and systems of moderate scope and complexity.

The Product Design Engineer will provide engineering support to all aspects of product design and development ensuring achievement of project objectives. This individual will research, analyze, and design components or a system of components for new products or improve existing products while reducing cost, or enhancing performance. Designs and develops products and systems of moderate scope and complexity.
Essential Functions
- Work with customers to create and design moderately complex products by analyzing product specifications, performance requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Generate proactive solutions that meet customer requirements and/or requests.
- Apply engineering principles to evaluate designs and determine critical components.
- Determines feasibility of new system designs or modification of existing systems by performing necessary engineering calculations while considering technical and economic factors.
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as manufacturing capability, suitable materials, and interchangeability of components, cost, strength-weight efficiency, and Intellectual Property.
- Creates solid models and part prints using 3D CAD (SolidWorks. Creo).
- Prepares and reviews drawings for tooling and production release while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
- Work with Prototype team to ensure quality and manufacturability of design.
- Test new products and display components to ensure form, fit and function of design.
- Contributes ideas to improve department efficiency and productivity both from a CAD perspective as well as a process perspective through documentation and standardization.
- Communicate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Project Management, and service suppliers as needed.
- Provide sustaining engineering support to existing products including VAVE, quality, and product improvements.
- Provide technical support to both internal and external customers as needed.
- Work in cross functional teams to achieve company’s goals and objectives.
- Provide other duties as assigned.
- Timely completion of part designs, assembly designs and drawings.
- Accuracy of completed projects in regard to meeting customer expectations, requirements and deadlines.
- Quality of designs.
- Maintain company profitability objectives on projects.
- Ability to draw, design and value engineer parts and components.
- Maintain an excellent level of internal and external customer satisfaction.

- 40 Hours per week
- BS or Associates Degree in Engineering or related field.
- If no degree, then 5 to 10 years' work experience in engineering or product design in a team-based environment.
- 3 to 8 years of experience in engineering product design in a team-based environment.
- Minimum 5 years SolidWorks or Creo design experience
- Prefer excellent technical, design, and conceptual skills.
- Ability to utilize 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Creo) to create part and assembly models and detail drawings sufficient to build prototypes and convey design concepts to other functional departments.
- Must have experience working on projects from concept development through final release.
- Familiarity with different manufacturing processes and material types.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well with others.
- Prefer someone who is highly motivated, and results driven.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
