What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant position at Sight Eye Clinic?

Sight Eye Clinic is seeking an ophthalmic assistant with a passion for the field of medicine, who is compassionate, hardworking, and dedicated to high-quality patient care. This position provides ophthalmic assistance to physicians by performing an extensive number of data collection functions delegated by the physician to allow for proper medical and professional diagnosis of patients.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Obtain and record patient's reason for visit and complete medical histories
- Instill ocular medications as indicated by the physician
- Assist with patient education regarding medications, eye care products, and general ophthalmic care
- Perform accurate and consistent ophthalmic testing as indicated by the physician
- Prepare for, and assist in, minor office procedures and surgeries as directed by the physician
- Knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy, pathologies, and pharmacology is a plus, but prior experience is not required. On the job training is provided
- Carries out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective, and professional manner
- Understands and complies with policies and procedures, applicable rules and regulations, and HIPAA compliance
- Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment for patients and clinical staff
- Ability to handle all responsibilities while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Excellent communication skills with patients, staff and doctors
Experience:
- Ophthalmology: 1 year (Preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
