We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology clinic. This position requires a blend of technical skills, patient interaction, and a strong understanding of medical office protocols. The Ophthalmic Technician will assist in various clinical tasks while ensuring compliance with health regulations and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients.
Duties
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including visual acuity tests and refractive assessments.
- Instill topical medications as indicated by the physician.
- Perform accurate and consistent ophthalmic testing as indicated by the physician.
- Prepare and assist ophthalmologists during office procedures, assuring all necessary instruments are available and sterile.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations using electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred, but on the job training provided to the right candidate
- Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions.
- Ensure the clinic environment is clean, organized and well stocked for every day use.
- Collaborate with the medical office team to streamline patient flow and enhance overall clinic efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills with patients and other medical staff a must.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an ophthalmic or medical office setting is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and computer usage is a plus.
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care while adhering to clinic policies and procedures.
