What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ocular Recovery Technician position at Sight Society of NENY?
Sight Society of NENY, Lions Eye Bank of the Northeast is a nonprofit organization and has facilitated the "gift of sight" worldwide through transplantation and research since 1952. The Ocular Recovery Technician is responsible for recovering eye tissue needed for transplant and /or research; conducts professional interactions with hospital staff, and recovery partners/entities. This position requires travel, on call hours (minimum of 1 day a week and 1 weekend per month). A degree in science and/or healthcare background, medical assistant, nursing, operating room/surgical aseptic technique experience is preferred. We are willing to train the right individual. Responsibilities include:
- Performs surgical procedures to remove and prepare human corneal tissue for transplant and research.
- Coordinates the placement of approved tissue for transplant with surgeons.
- Evaluates the processed cornea to determine suitability of tissue for human transplant.
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
