What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Handler/Caretaker (Seasonal/Temporary) position at Sight & Sound Brand?

The Animal Handler/Caretaker assists with the caretaking and maintenance of the animal ensemble for theatrical performances and provides coverage for animal handler show duties as needed. This is a seasonal/temporary position to support the run of NOAH during staffing needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support and contribute to an environment that is built on our Mission, Values, and Safety Statements.
- Position animals at their correct locations for show, theater events, and daily housing rotation per Lead animal handler, producing group, or supervisor’s direction.
- Wear costumes as required to assist in animal handling on and off stage to maintain the integrity of the show.
- Participate in special training sessions with the Animal Trainer to gain the skills necessary for riding, trained behaviors and controlling animals during rehearsals and stage performances.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the animal areas in and outside the theater.
- Maintain an orderly and clean work environment to include all animal living and turn out areas.
- Be available for weekend and/or holiday caretaking assignments.
- Operate farm equipment as requested.
- Maintain health and appearance of all animals.
- Assist, as needed, in a variety of animal husbandry duties including care and maintenance of the animals and their living environments.
Prerequisites:

- A solid understanding of animal behaviors along with the ability and desire to learn and execute all necessary training procedures.
- Patient and able to perform under pressure.
- Willing and able to work well in a team atmosphere.
- High level of concern for the welfare of animals.
- Proper documentation of training, feeding and medication as needed.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
- Attention to detail and ability to set and reach long term goals.
