What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Sales Representative position at Sigma Equipment?
Our sales teams work with companies in the manufacturing industry who are in the market to purchase manufacturing equipment. We are primarily an internet based sales organization so many of our leads are generated through our online platform. The successful technical sales professional is skilled at building relationships by fanatical prospecting, regularly communicating with customers via telephone and email, is adept at the consultative approach to selling, providing customers the timely information they need to make the best buying decision for their organization, and working within a team to reach sales goals.
The right candidate must have the ability to discuss technical concepts with engineers and plant managers, extensive computer and internet research experience, and strong time management skills. We are looking for an experienced sales person who is skilled at everything from qualifying prospects and identifying decision makers to negotiation and closing the sale. The right candidate demonstrates consistent sales growth while learning the sales process and industry.
This is a commission based position that requires working extended hours, but with the extra work comes extra benefits. If you put in the time and maintain a high level of self-discipline to reach your sales goals you are rewarded with a strong incentive program, so there is no limit to what you can earn.
While it is preferred that this role be based out of our Evansville, IN location, we would consider a remote arrangement for an ideal candidate.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintaining a healthy and robust sales pipeline by making daily prospecting calls to inactive and repeat customers
- Utilizing a consultative approach to engaging with customers to find out about their projects and pair them with production machinery that meets their business goals and timeline
- Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers' needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations
- Negotiate prices or terms of sales
- Follow-up on active projects
- Keeping the SIGMA customer database updated with current client and company information
- Work collaboratively between company departments (e.g. Logistics, Acquisitions, Shop Services) to meet customer project requirements.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or technical related field preferred
- Sales experience in equipment industry, manufacturing or production environment
- Proven work experience as a successful sales and new business development
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite
- Working knowledge of BRM and CRM practices along with ability to build productive business professional relationships
- Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales
- Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills
- Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs
- Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
