Summary:
- The optometry department is equipped with four exam lanes, ancillary testing: Optos, VF, OCT, TearCare, Lipiflow, and B-scan, and an optical department. This is an exciting opportunity for a medically oriented OD to join a collaborative, easy going practice. We are looking for a patient focused, flexible, self-motivated optometrist with strong diagnostic skills and a passion for delivering a great patient experience. We are looking for a team player who isn’t afraid to think outside the box.
Core Duties:
- Provide excellent eyecare at the hospital and in village clinics.
- Provides outpatient care for patients of all ages with eye related disorders and conditions.
- Provides complete documentation of exam in EHR including anterior and posterior evaluations of the eyes, dilates eyes when appropriate, orders and completes additional office procedures when appropriate, prescribes medication/glasses/contact lenses/vision aids/therapy, completes assessment and plan, patient education among others.
- Practices optometry to the full scope of licensure.
- Consults with other health care practitioners for co-management of eye diseases and systemic conditions.
- Refers patients to trusted specialists as needed and follows up on results and reports.
- Educates patients on proper eye care including eye hygiene and safety.
- Has excellent customer service and organizational skills.
- Willing to be flexible with their time, although off hours are rare.
- Ability to adapt to and accept variable situations that may impact care delivery.
- Works well under variable conditions and in a rural area.
- Degree: Doctor of Optometry.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): Possess a certification to use Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents.
- Education: Graduate from a school or college approved by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) of the American Optometric Association.
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an optometrist.
