Job Summary

Responsibilities
The PLC Programmer duties include a range of hands-on tasks to support manufacturing:
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing PLC systems and related electrical controls on the factory floor.
- Troubleshooting and resolving PLC issues to keep production lines operational.
- Conducting preventive maintenance to ensure systems are reliable and safe.
- Testing electrical equipment for proper and safe functioning, following industry standards.
- Updating PLC programs as needed to improve automation, often under engineer guidance.
- Keeping accurate records of all electrical work, including installations and repairs.
- Collaborating with maintenance and engineering departments to complete tasks efficiently.
- Ensuring compliance with safety laws and regulations, and responding to emergencies like equipment failures.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates typically need:
- At least 5 years of experience as an electrical or mechanical technician, with a focus on PLC systems in manufacturing.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and fix PLC and electrical problems.
- Knowledge of PLC software (Step7, TIA Portal, WinCC, SIMOTION and PAC) and hardware (Siemens, Sinamics and Stepnet), Profibus and Profinet, motors, industrial wiring, electro-mechanical drives, and servo motion control.
- Experience with web handling systems, thermal control for deposition processes, metal deposition equipment, high speed slitting machinery and servo/stepper motion control systems a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
- An associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.
