Seeking a senior staff level Electrical Engineer to contribute to the architect, build, test, and certification for proprietary material processing equipment. This person will be detail-oriented with the ability to think critically to diagnose issues and optimize complex processes, identifying new engineering needs as they arise. The candidate will work in a small team to bring new products from concept to production release.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the delivery of power distribution and control systems for next generation manufacturing line, integrating advanced automation along with current electrical and safety requirements needed for industrial machines.
- Build, test, and debug prototypes of new control panels and systems.
- Define the automation and controls concepts implementing proprietary and off-the-shelf manufacturing equipment, partnering with product development and manufacturing technology teams.
- Evaluate, specify, integrate, test and deploy proprietary and commercial hardware with an understanding of the trade-offs between hardware and software-based solutions to optimize efficiency and performance of material processing systems.
- Define and implement safety systems/circuits for complex automation and laser-based, material processing platforms for manufacturing lines.
- Drive industry related safety and compliance certification associated with the release of the processing equipment.
- Complete documentation required for the manufacturing and productions teams. This includes costed BOM’s, schematics, layout drawings cable drawings and inputs to facility, operational and service manuals. It also includes the technical files needed for 3rd party evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computing or alternative field of engineering.
- Semiconductor capital equipment development experience is highly desired.
- Industrial process control with 8-10 years of experience.
- Broad understanding of best-known practices for manufacturing equipment with respect to motion control, sensors, power distribution, electrical and safety code requirements.
- Document power distribution, controls and layouts following applicable design safety standards, including those from NFPA, SEMI and other applicable industrial automation requirements.
- Efficient with design of electrical and electro-mechanical systems using AutoCAD and SolidWorks tool sets.
- Understanding product development cycles, taking the new product from concept and design to completion of the safety and certification processes.
- Previous experience working with Mechanical, Optical, and Laser development is highly desired. Knowledge of hardware and software solutions that affect the component selection process.
- Other associated engineering activities, as needed. This may include programming of PLCs or safety controllers.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards associated with the design, build, and automation of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical systems, with experience supporting laser-based systems highly desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
