What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Teacher position at Signal Centers?

We are seeking a Lead Teacher to provide a rich and nurturing environment for a classroom of Preschoolers. You will ensure the safety of the children and create an environment that encourages social/emotional growth and the development of age appropriate skills. The teacher creates lesson plans, maintains accurate activity and progress data, report routinely/daily to parents/guardians and incorporates the IEP goals of children with special needs within the classroom's daily routine.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- At least a CDA (Child Development Associate Certificate) and/or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field. Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Special Education is preferred.
- Knowledge of TN child care licensing standards and The Creative Curriculum are helpful.
- Previous experience working or volunteering with individuals with special needs is preferred but not required. (RBT, ABA, CPI training helpful)
- Thorough understanding of cognitive, social/emotional and physical needs of preschool age children.
- First Aid/CPR certifications
- Ability to relate to children of all backgrounds and abilities and build rapport with their families.
- Familiarity with developmental standards, screenings and assessments for 3–5-year-olds.
- Strong computer skills in order to develop computer-based lesson plans, reports, and records and enter data into a variety of computer programs.
- At least one year working in a professional environment with children 0-5 years old.
- Ability to pass a criminal background (fingerprint) & registry check
- Ability to lift/carry/maneuver children up to 25 lbs without assistance and ability to get up and down from the floor to engage with children regularly.
- Must complete a standard post-offer/ pre-employment Health form for child care employees with a TB Test as required by state law.
This is a full-time position with hours between 7:30-5:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
