Organizational Level: This is an intermediate level safety management position with a developmental focus toward promotion to Safety Specialist III
Reports to: Project Manager
Works closely with: Construction Manager, Superintendents, Field Staff, Owners, & Subcontractors
Activities/ Responsibilities/ Duties:
- Perform as an advocate for Applied High Voltage, LLC by promoting company Core Principles and mission, a proactive safety culture, and policies and procedures.
- Represent Applied High Voltage in a professional manner with clients, subcontractors, local officials, and others at all times.
- Support Site Safety Manager in the management of renewable energy project injury and illness prevention plans for the construction of project infrastructure to include but not limited to roads, foundations, high voltage electrical works, substations, and generation components.
- Work closely with the Site Safety Manager, Project Manager, Construction Manager and Applied High Voltage project staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and the project injury and illness prevention plan.
- Effectively performs audit, inspection, and surveillance activities in accordance with the project injury and illness prevention plan.
- Assess the safety of the work performed, track and assure corrective actions are completed in accordance with the project injury and illness prevention plan as well as other Applied High Voltage Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Completes incident investigations, to include determination of root causes and corrective actions.
- Assist the Construction Manager in developing and maintaining the project injury and illness prevention plan, including but not limited to emergency action, response, evacuation, and security plans.
- Verify that all project personnel have the requisite safety training pertinent to their scope of work.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Knowledge of technical and safety management aspects of construction project activities
- Knowledge of public and construction safety and security issues and regulations
- Must be able to understand, interpret, and apply regulatory requirements applicable to the project scope of work. This includes, but is not limited to, Federal and State OSHA, EPA, etc…
- Ability to lead, influence others
- Effective time management
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently and efficiently under limited supervision while functioning as a component of the greater project team.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff throughout the project including, owners, clients, etc.
- Ability to conduct effective incident investigations and develop reports with minimal supervision.
- Ability to identify and correct unsafe acts and conditions as they occur in the field.
- Self-motivated, able to learn quickly and independently
- Computer literacy and basic knowledge of MS Office
- Physical demands include all actions required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job which include mobility on and around constructions sites, working at height, occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, and exposure to hot/cold/high noise environments
Education/ Experience:
- Associates degree in construction safety management or related field and/or three years of construction safety management experience.
- Safety auditing experience and knowledge of OSHA standards.
Certificates / Licenses:
- OSHA 510/500
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- BCSP or other equivalent Safety Certifications
- NFPA 70E
