Job Summary:
The Business Development Banking Officer is an entry level business development position responsible for providing quality customer service to clients while proactively assisting them with their financial needs through the delivery of banking services. They should also be dedicated to building long-term relationships while tailoring financial solutions to meet client goals and objectives. Additionally, this position is responsible for increasing the banks profitability by cultivating new business relationships while maintaining/protecting the banks business interest.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Exhibit a sense of urgency to always provide the finest customer service and in all forms of verbal and written communication.
- Mentor under Market President and/or senior business development officer (as applicable) to learn and develop sales skills with warm and cold leads.
- Meet individualized performance goals as well as assist and encourage the team to meet goals. This includes developing new banking relationships comprised of core deposit accounts, increased fee income and integration of other bank services as well as implementing and managing long-term prospect calling programs to generate significant revenue.
- Discuss client needs, problems, or complaints with senior managers.
- Establish priorities and prepare schedule to efficiently produce new business and serve existing clients.
- Arrange meetings between clients or prospective clients and appropriate bank representatives.
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal banking regulations.
- Keep abreast of current changes in banking which affect areas of responsibility and inform staff accordingly.
- Develop an action plan to engage with companies and create full banking relationships with their associates and employees.
- Develop new business through identifying and calling on existing or prospective customers, promoting and cross selling all other bank services.
- Join and actively participate in organizations of interest that is involved in the community.
- Develop a strong understanding of all deposit/new account products including working directly with our Raymond James team members.
- Open new accounts and service key clients as needed.
- Help onboard new clients in an individualized manner that ensures long term relationship and fully banking the client.
- Assist Market President in market community events and represent the bank at events to spread brand awareness in market.
- Perform all other tasks requested as they relate to the Bank and its functions.
Production Expectations:
- Make a minimum of 5 business calls per week.
- Minimum $250,000 low-cost deposits a year (new money) or Minimum $500,000 pledged/other deposits a year.
- Minimum of 5 services a year.
- Minimum of 5 accounts a year.
- Minimum of 3 new relationships a month.
- Minimum of a combination of 5 new Treasury Management products, customers, and/or referrals a year.
- Manage and participate in local community events.
- Act as a community ambassador.
- Participate in Branch meetings.
These expectations indicate a role that requires both sales and relationship-building skills, as well a strong commitment to community engagement and representing the banks brand positively. Its a demanding role that requires proactive outreach, networking, and the ability to meet specific sales targets.

All Team Members shall be responsible for communicating upward, problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions. Team Members must participate in required training on pertinent compliance laws and regulations as required by Signature Bank of Arkansas.
All Team Members will be committed to maintaining a high level of compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti Money Laundering, USA PATRIOT Act and Financial Recordkeeping regulations recognizing that all three acts are important tools in federal efforts to combat organized crime, terrorism, and drug trafficking.
Education / Experience:
- College degree in finance/business preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a business development role, preferable with financial services relationship management experience (retail/business/commercial banking, private banking, wealth management or other financial services)
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate courteously and professionally in English (both written and oral) before groups of customers, team members, and management of the Bank.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as financial statements and legal documents.
- Ability to analyze and write business proposals, LOMs, and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members, manager, customers, and the public.
- Ability to utilize all necessary software applications as well as Microsoft Office
- Good interpersonal communication skills to effectively relate to all levels of the Bank staff.
- Sound reasoning and judgment skills.
- Must be self-motivated and work well in a team environment.
